Punch turned the international media spotlight on the Gold Coast in November 2013 as The Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton relay hit the shores of Surfers Paradise.
Jaws dropped as Olympic Gold medalist Sally Person arrived with the baton in a surf life saving boat to a red carpet reception on the beach.
Met by Queensland Premier Campbell Newman, the baton was relayed along the beach by some of Australia’s top athletes, government officials, and celebrities with local school children cheering it on. The massive event reached its peak as Olympic diver Brittany Brobin took the baton on the SkyPoint climb to the top of the Gold Coast’s tallest building, Q1.
Hailed as a resounding success, Punch was delighted to design, organize and manage the event for the Gold Coast Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games (GOLDOC).
